I thought this would have more recipes for the zone diet. It had losts of information but more about eating out than recipes for at home
1 Star Good for people who eat prepared foods
I was disappointed in this book because I thought it would have a listing of a most foods and their value in the Zone block system. However, it is not this at all. They go through hundreds of prepared foods, say, Weigh Watchers meals, and tells the blocks for those. I am making food by scratch, so I had to return the book because it did not apply to my family. Excellent book on finding out what to eat to get into the ZONE - would love to have an updated version in the near future.
5 Stars Zone Review
A great guideline for healthy eating. Stay away from the fake sugar, etc though.

Sugar Busters Quick and Easy Cookbook

The Sugar Busters! diet lets you eat just about anything except certain carbohydrates, including refined sugars, red and white potatoes, corn, white rice, highly processed grains, beets, and carrots. This cookbook offers a variety of Sugar Busters!- acceptable recipes, averaging about 40 percent “correct” carbohydrates, 30 percent protein, and 30 percent fat. These recipes won’t keep you in the kitchen all day, though most aren’t produced in a flash, either. Breakfasts are predominantly egg dishes. Lunches include Stir-Fried Ginger Chicken, Chesapeake Crab Cakes, Whole-Wheat Spaghetti with Olive-Tomato Sauce, Fourth of July Macaroni Salad (colorful with red onions, tomatoes, green bell peppers, and onions), and Bayou Spicy Boiled Shrimp. 5 Stars good for days when you have no energy, but you still want to do something.
when i purchased this dvd, i wasn’t sure what it would be like…the reviews were hit-or-miss…this only made me more curious about the product…well, i tried it and i like it. it has become a regular part of my lifestyle…it is easy to follow, it isn’t really difficult, but it does provide me with a sense of accomplishment (especially on those days when i don’t have a whole lot of energy but I still want to do something). suzanne deason is a wonderful instructor. she tries to make yoga accessible and enjoyable so that you want to keep doing it. i always feel balanced after doing this dvd.
2 Stars Before you start…
I haven’t actually been able to do this workout yet–not because I haven’t wanted to because I have, but because YOU NEED TO HAVE YOGA BLOCKS TO DO IT. I don’t have those yoga blocks, so now I have to go pay more $$ for equipment. It doesn’t say anywhere on the DVD that you need any equipment. It’s really, really annoying because you should know what you need before you wake up at 5:30 AM and pop the DVD in thinking you’ll get a workout first thing.
2 Stars Very slow movement and lots of talking…
I just reviewed this program and I had difficulty following along. This is because the the program is so slow and the narrator has such a calming voice that I kept yawning. There is narration throughout the entire program, had the narration stopped, I may have had a minute to calm my mind as the program encourages. This is a relaxing program, almost too relaxing.
The other distraction in this program is the use of bricks, blankets and a chair. The narration focuses a lot of time on these accessories. It would’ve been nice to have the narration give directions for people who choose to follow along without the accessories.
The overall program devotes a lot of time to holding certain positions and the narration talks through each interval of a position which could be annoying at times. The pace of the programs are a little too slow. Suzanne’s look could also be a distraction for some people. I’m still looking for a program that offers more varieties of positions.
1 Star Yoga for who???
I’m overweight, so I bought yoga for weightloss. Well, right at the beginning of the workout the instructor, who is not overweight, launches into several positions that I cannot do BECAUSE I AM OVERWEIGHT. I would have to be at close to a normal weight to fit myself into the positions she does.
What’s the point? I thought this might actually have positions I could do. I ejected the disc five minutes into it and added it to my coaster collection.
Thanks for nothing.

The 1200 Calorie a Day Menu Cookbook Quick and Easy Recipes for Delicious Low fat Breakfasts Lunches Dinners and Desserts
April 27, 2009 by Quick Weight Loss · Leave a Comment

Hughes breaks the 1,200 calories a day into breakfast and lunch recipes that contain no more than 350 calories each, dinner recipes that contain no more than 400 calories, and dessert recipes that contain only 100 calories. The majority of the meals contain 20 percent or less of their total calorie content from fat; all contain less than 30 percent. The totals are listed with each recipe. Hughes, author of three other cookbooks, insists this is not a diet plan but rather a comprehensive collection of recipes that can be used to limit calorie and fat intake. Many of the recipes can be prepared in 15 minutes or less. George Cohen

1 Star No Good
I Bought this Book to eliminate the guess work out of what My Meals calorie counts were. EVERY recipie Has 4 Servings.!! So You have to Quarter every ingrediant, to make a Meal for One Person Or 1/2 It to make a Meal for Two. No Pictures at all either, which Make it Non exciting to me. I did not want to have get out my calculator, and figure it out.. to get a Meal for One. Plus every recipie is a BIG Production.. not going to eat FAST, either. Shopping, caluculating, etc all too much for a such a simple cookbook. Plus doesnt give serving sizes either and no sodium counts.! So if your into measuring, and shopping, and spending a Lot time in Kitchen.. this Books for You. If not- LOOK ELSEWHERE. This is Going on ebay to get some of My Money Back!
4 Stars Great food, but not balanced
I’ve been using this book for awhile and the food is great and I never feel hungry! The only problem is that it doesn’t provide enough fruit and veggie servings. I get maybe 2 servings of fruit and 2 of veggies per day. If I add my own then I risk going over 1,200 calories. I would love to see more fruits and veggies in the ingredients list.
3 Stars McButter
Great recipes! But a little strange- alot of the recipes use the butter seasoning: Molly McButter- I am not even sure what that stuff is made out of. The Open-faced Turkey Meatball Sandwich recipe is incredible!!! Tasted just like the greasy ground beef version! Yum. I am excited to try more-especially the breakfast menu items. GREAT BOOK!!
1 Star Won’t fly here in the heart land
I guess it is my own fault for not investigating the actual recipes in the book, but I thought there would be standard “diet” food fare utilized in a 1,200 calorie a day format. Not so much. The book DOES deliver 1,200 calorie a day recipes it’s just that none of them seem appetizing or practical. I perused it and quickly relegated it to my yard sale box of books. I mean how practical is “Wild Rice-Sausage Chowder and Fresh Tomato Slices”? There are 16 ingredients listed! Someone who can whip up a 16 ingredient dish doesn’t need help putting together a 1,200 calorie day. Here is one that looks inviting…”Individual fruit platters with hot popovers” Oh wait, I don’t want to whip up popovers! I wanted something to help me get OUT of the kitchen and grocery store. Sort of like a do-it-yourself Jenny Craig plan. If anyone knows of such a thing, please post it for me.
5 Stars Great Recipes!!
This book has a lot of great tasting recipes. My family and I prepared a couple of recipes so far, and it’s great because it doesn’t feel like you’re on a diet. In addition, the great tasting food provides a great meal for others who don’t know that they’re getting a low calorie meal. I love the varied selection from breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. The only drawback is that all the meals are prepared for a serving of four…a lot of leftovers if you’re by yourself!
Quick Fix Post Natal Workout
April 27, 2009 by Quick Weight Loss · Leave a Comment

The first of its kind of busy new mothers. These micro workouts will help you regain your pre-pregnancy fitness level, while easing the tension of your day to day mental, physical and emotional changes. Nancy Popp, “Quick Fix” veteran, experienced mother and fitness expert, will help you get back into shape.
Each segment will focus on key areas of your body that have changed during pregnancy. In the first 10 minute workout, you will use 2 fluid filled bottles or light hand weights for resistance to tone and tighten your arms and back. Grab a chair for the second workout and get ready to regain the strength in your lower body. In the final segment you will use floor techniques to build up your muscles in the abdomen and lower back regions.
As with all of our “Quick Fix” Series, you can do one, two or all three of the workouts, and time is never a problem!

4 Stars Great tune-up when your motivation has died…
I found this DVD great after having my daughter. That was the OLD me who did more exercise than I do now! I run decluttering and time management workshops for a living (inspiredhoney.com) and so I like to have a break once in a while give my mind a tune-up (like my car). But having a DVD like this makes it easier to give my ole body a tune-up too! Worth having when it’s raining and cold and the motivation for exercise has died.
5 Stars Excellent!
I really enjoyed this postnatal workout DVD. I really like everything I’ve tried in the QuickFix series, so I was really excited about trying this one and was definitely not disappointed. Nancy Popp is an approachable instructor who gives clear instructions; the workouts are therefore easy to follow and she offers modifications at all times. The 10-minute format is of course wonderful, and the props required are reasonable (a mat and a strap). Overall, another great offering from the QuickFix series!
5 Stars This is a great post natal workout
This is a great post natal workout for someone who is out of shape. I was on bed rest for the final 5 months of my pregnancy, so I was seriously out of shape. This workout is not too hard for those of us who had complicated pregnancies, and it really works what you need worked after having a baby. I also had a C-section, and it’s not too much stress on that area that can be extremely sensitive. Despite being gentle on you, you will still work up a sweat, and the stomach workout is great!
4 Stars Post natal workout
Not annoying and just tough enough to keep me going but not discourage me. I like that it is broken up in segments so that I can tend to the toddler when he needs it (and he needs it often!) I didn’t see fast results because I got pregnant two months after purchasing.
5 Stars Great DVD
I love this workout program. The workouts are targeted and short and help get results even if you have a very demanding infant!
